Tour Map #7
A true masterpiece of craftsmanship, the State Road Covered Bridge stands as a symbol of Ashtabula County’s dedication to preserving its covered bridge heritage. Built in 1983 using 97,000 feet of southern pine and oak, this 152-foot Town lattice bridge spans Conneaut Creek with timeless beauty. Designed by County Engineer John Smolen, Jr., it was the first covered bridge of its kind in the area, featuring a four-foot-tall window along its length to showcase the intricate lattice construction. Its dedication in 1983 even paved the way for the beloved Covered Bridge Festival, making it a must-visit landmark for history buffs and bridge enthusiasts alike!
