Tour Map #16
A true icon of Ohio’s covered bridge heritage, the Harpersfield Covered Bridge is a stunning two-span Howe truss bridge stretching 228 feet across the Grand River. Once the longest covered bridge in the state, this historic landmark has stood proudly since 1868 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Nestled in the County Metro Park, it’s a perfect spot for a scenic picnic or a peaceful stroll. After a devastating flood in 1913 altered the river’s course, a steel extension was added to connect the bridge to its original path. In 1991-92, a walkway was installed, allowing visitors to fully appreciate the beauty and history of this beloved bridge. Whether you're a history buff or just love a scenic drive, Harpersfield Bridge is a must-see destination in Ashtabula County.
