Tour Map #17
A true piece of living history, the Mechanicsville Covered Bridge is believed to be the oldest covered bridge in Ashtabula County. Built in 1867, this impressive 156-foot Howe truss with arch gracefully spans the Grand River, making it the second-longest single-span covered bridge in the county. Its sturdy arch, made of 15 layers of 2x8 lumber encased within the large beams of the truss, showcases classic 19th-century craftsmanship. Renovated in 2003-2004, the bridge was reopened to traffic in the spring of 2004, ensuring its legacy continues. Whether you're a covered bridge enthusiast or just enjoying a scenic drive, Mechanicsville Bridge is a must-visit stop along Ohio’s historic bridge trail.
